Anthill Girl Agenda In Uganda

The Girl Agenda Is A Central Focus At Anthill Foundation Uganda Since Inception. It Evolved Into The Keep Girls In School In 2016 To 2019. It Further Evolved In 2020 To Keep Girls Safe And Empowered Working With Girls And Young Women In And Out Of School To Best Promote School Reentry Particualrly For Young Mothers As Guided By The National Strategy To Address Child Marriage And Teenage Pregnancy In Uganda.

The program runs three sub projects to ensure girls and young women thrive

The Girl Agenda is a central focus at Anthill Foundation Uganda since inception. It evolved into the Keep Girls in School in 2016 to 2019. It further evolved in 2020 to Keep Girls Safe and Empowered working with girls and young women in and out of school to best promote school reentry particualrly for young mothers as guided by the national strategy to address child marriage and teenage pregnancy in Uganda.

The program runs three sub projects to ensure girls and young women thrive

1. POWER UP: A course designed in 2018 by Director Clare Seruwagi Sempebwa and Elizabeth Kalemera   for adolescents and young people particularly girls affected by child marriage and teenage pregnancy. The 12 week course is designed to equip adolescents and young people with the skill set and confidence to combat barriers and take on leadership roles but above all thrive. This program is suitable for schools and communities working with out of school children/youth.
2. K. Mayhew Girls Vocational Institute: launched in 2023 the institute in support of the national campaign launched by the Goverment of Uganda on addressing child marriage, teenage pregnancy and parenting. The model promotes second chance education with girls going to the institute with their babies and upon completion of their courses they get settled back in  their respective communities to kick start livelihood projects.
3. Keep AGYW Safe and Empowered: project works with out of school adolescent Girls and Young Women building life skills,, health education and exposure to entrepreneurship to enable them live decent lives.
4. Male Champions ending GBV: Engages youth within partner communities in End Gender Based capacity building and advocacy to help minimize abuse and violence.
