RHTU is a team of qualified health workers willing to serve in rural communities in Uganda.

This team is involved in different actions in the community health.

Among them;

• Support of the elderly, blind and the lame those are unable to help themselves. This is done by fetching water for bathing, washing clothes; maintain personal hygiene like nail trimming, hair trimming.
• Conducting health education talks to communities upon the prevailing problem affecting the community. Issues such as gender based violence, violence against children, and use of face masks. etc
• Patients follow up in remote rural communities that do not have access to medical health services using motorcycles and bicycles.
• Training of Village Health team members on home improvement services. Having all components of an ideal home. These VHTs will intern teach the communities.
• Community’s sensitization through use of mega phones and the motorcycles depending on the problem affecting the community and the package of message to be delivered.
• Conducting surveys and research in the communities to discover the problems affecting the community.

THE RHTU EXPERIENCE

Since RHT was established in 2017, they have been involved in organizing and conducting annual medical camps which could bring thousands of patients and RHTU realized that having annual medical camps once a year was not helping enough and they established routine medical outreaches in order to have sustainability of medical services in these communities and having a number of patients that can be managed fully up to the complete healing process. RHT moved ahead to fine the permanent solutions to the rural communities and they started establishing medical clinics in those rural communities where the communities can now have daily medical health services closer to them. With the above RHT has been able now to follow up all their patients identified and those that will require further management and referrals are easily worked upon.
